Car Rental Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can Express Car Rental pick me up?

Yes, we offer FREE pick up in Visalia. We also offer pickups in the surrounding areas for a fee depending on location. All pickups must be arranged during normal business hours. To schedule a pick up please call our office directly to confirm we have someone available.

Please note:

  • We will pick you up, but we do not deliver vehicles.
  • Let us know how many people will be getting picked up so we can bring a car big enough for all your passengers.

2. What do you need to rent a car?

  • Be at least 21 years old (you will be required to pay a young driver fee of $18 per day when under 25 years old)
  • A valid and unexpired Driver License
  • A $200 deposit for California driver license and $300 deposit for out of state license
  • Insurance card if you have insurance
  • Current utility bill or pay stub if you do not have insurance (gas, electric, water, sewer)

We do not accept phone, internet or any other mail other than a utility bill or pay stub.

3. What are your age requirements for renting a car?

Must be at least 21 years old. You will be charged a young driver fee of $18 per day if under 25.

4. Can I return my rental vehicle after hours?

 We do not allow after hour drop offs. All of our rentals are on a 24-hour basis ( or our closing time, whichever comes first) . Drop of time is pick up time and must be checked in with a team member to get your deposit fully refunded.

5. Can I extend my car rental?

Yes, you can extend your car rental by giving us a call prior to your return time. Payment for extension is due upon extending. NO call NO show with result in $150 late fee plus the rental charges.

Please Note: If you call to extend it after your scheduled return time you will be charged a late fee of $150 plus your daily rental rate.

6. What form of payments are accepted for car rental?

Express Car Rental accepts the following payment methods; Credit, Debit and Cash

All major credit and debit cards;

  • VISA
  • MasterCard
  • American Express
  • Discover

Debit and cash payments are accepted if you present a current home utility bill or pay stub.

Please Note:
We do not accept phone, internet or any other mail other than a utility bill or pay stub.
We do not accept personal checks

7. Security Deposits

We require a refundable deposit to rent a car with Express Car Rental. Deposit is due when making the reservation. We do not make reservations without deposit. All drivers with a California Driver License are required to pay a $200 deposit. All drivers with any other state license are required to pay a $300 deposit. If you make multiple reservation you are required to pay a deposit for each reservation. If you are renting more than one vehicle in one day you are also required to pay a deposit for every rental that you pick up.

Deposits are refundable as long as you return the vehicle in the same condition that you took it.

Please Note:

  • We do not extend rentals and deduct from your deposit
  • You will receive your deposit in the same method that you used to pay it
  • If you pay deposit with a debit or credit card, we can only refund deposit to that same debit or credit card that was used to make payment

8. Do you offer unlimited miles?

All rentals come with 100 miles for free per day. You will have the option to add unlimited miles to your rental for a daily fee.

$5 per day for unlimited miles for:

  • Standard car
  • Economic car
  • Intermediate car
  • Full size car

$10 per day for unlimited miles for:

  • Premium car
  • Standard SUV
  • Full size SUV
  • Pickup truck
  • Mini Van
  • Passenger vans

9. Additional Drivers

There is an additional driver fee of $5 per driver per day. If under 25 drivers are required to pay the additional driver fee plus the young driver fee.

All additional drivers must:

  • Be present at the time of pick up
  • Meet all age and driver license requirements.
  • Present a valid driver license
  • Bring insurance information

Please note: If any driver does not have insurance you will be required to purchase insurance through our 3rd party insurance company even if all other drivers have their own coverage. 

10. Do I need to have insurance to rent a vehicle?

All rentals require full coverage insurance by the time they leave the lot. If you have your own full coverage insurance that extends to rental vehicles you will NOT be required to purchase additional insurance.
If you do not have your own full coverage insurance, we can provide you with third party insurance for $24.95 per day. You will be required to present a currently utility bill or pay stub.

11. How do I change or cancel my reservation?

You have the right to cancel your reservation any time. Please be aware your deposit is fully refundable if you cancel 7 days prior to your scheduled pick up date. Deposit is not refundable if you cancel within 7 days of your scheduled pick up date.

To change your reservation please give us a call as soon as you know you will need to make rearrangements. We can reschedule your reservation at no extra cost. Please be aware availability of vehicle is not always guarantee when rescheduling but we always try our best to accommodate the best we can. 

12. Discounts and Promotions

10% Guarantee: We will beat any of our competitors written quote by a minimum of 10% for a similar car in stock. Must pay with a credit card for this deal.

Military Discounts: All active and veteran military members receive 25% off. Must have a batch or any kind of military proof to get this discount.

Health Care Workers: Health care workers get 25% off with employment batch or proof of employment.

First Responders: First responders get 25% off with employment batch or proof of employment.

AAA: All AAA members get 5% off with current AAA membership. Membership card must be presented to get this discount.

Costco: All Costco members get 5% off with current Costco membership. Membership card must be presented to get this discount.

Please Note:

  • We do not combine two or more promotions (we will give you your highest qualifying discount)
  • All proof is mandatory to get any promotions

13. Does Express Car Rental Sell Insurance and Coverages?

Yes, we are partner up with a third party insurance company we offer the following coverages:

  • RCP: $17.45 per day, (Rental collision protection)
  • RLP + RCP: $24.55 per day, (rental liability protection and rental collision protection) this MUST be purchased if you do not have your own transferable insurance company.

14. No Smoking & No Pets

 All of our vehicles are non-smoking. We do not allow any type of smoking, including vaping and e-cigarettes, in our vehicles. If the vehicle that you rent returns to us with noticeable ash or smoke smell, you will be assessed a cleaning fee of up to $500.00, depending on the extent of the damage. We encourage you to refrain from smoking immediately prior to driving the rental vehicle, to avoid transferring the smoke smell into the rental vehicle.

No Pets :-

 Any pets , for any reason , pet smell , odor, hairs, or their waste will not be permissible and  the customer will be charged $ 500.00 on their card / cash.

15. Roadside Assistance

 At this time we don't offer any roadside assistance. customer is responsible for any flat tyres, out of gas or lockout . in case of mechanical failure , we will tow the vehicle to nearest repair facility and customer will do arrange their travel onwards with their own expenses. We may help customer if they are in Visalia and during working hours for a nominal fees. 

Tire Damage – Customer is responsible for any or all damage to the tires. They must replace the tire.
